My mom was after me for ages to go to this gallery in my town and I thought it was a consignment shop because it's set in a historic house. She finally got me to go inside and it was an honest to goodness art gallery! I guess you never can tell, hah! :D It was juried, I submitted my pieces and the rest is history! I was there a year, left for a year and I went back a few months ago. I'm happy I did.

You may be able to check the town's visitor bureau or tourist board for gallery info! At least you have pieces in shops and libraries! I just have the gallery. :(

Fanatstic lighting and depth Lisa. I've just spent a couple of days on the south coast (of England) and all the more appreciate the mood you're going for here.

Happy Easter!

John.

Thanks John.
I was worried that it looked too much like Thomas Kinkade... commercial and exploited. But so far the feedback i'm getting is very positive.

How are things across the pond?

Happy Easter Lisa!

Don't worry, your work never looks exploited to me, though I'd be interested to see a piece based on pure imagination, could be good.....

Things are fine here, I've been on the coast a couple of days and have recovered from a brief cold BUT the chilly sea mist down there was still worth it!

Generally keeping things simple, cleaning house, y'know. Asked a lady whom I'd seen a few times before Xmas to no longer contact me as we're not at all compatible, I feel better for that. A good painter but a....complicated person.

My friend was hit by a car while cycling recently BUT he's recovering well and will walk away from it, thank the maker!

Looking forward to my exhibit and been drawing, doing a bit of writing for a local creative newsletter, see My Hill featured on my frontpage.

Hope you're new life is shaping up.....apart from the tourists!

Speak soon,

John.

Wow, you've been busy! You sound like me! Seems our lives are complicated enough without dealing with other people's stuff too. Its okay when it goes both ways, but if it seems that its one side more than the other, that's not good, so I'm glad you realized this woman was not good for you.

Glad your friend is recovering, send him my well wishes. The wife of a long time friend of mine is currently undergoing brain surgery to remove the cancerous tumor there. I'm too far away to do much other than keep in touch with him and offer my long-distance support. I feel so helpless!

I'm excited that one of my paintings is being featured in a local newspaper! here's the link: [link]

Anyway, I'm working 3 part time jobs and trying to make my way here. I need to find an apartment by June 1st when this beach rental goes from $800 a month to $800 a week, and worse than that, the beach gets absolutely nuts. I like my peace and quiet, thank you very much.

Hope you are well,

Lisa

Many thanks for your best wishes Lisa and yes, it's stressful when other peoples' baggage takes a disproportionate size in your life.

I'm quite a simplicity junkie really so I feel quite a weight off my shoulders.

Besides, my recovering mate's female friend apparently now wants to meet me for tea or coffee after we met briefly in the pub (y'know, like a bar!) Easter Sunday.......

Yeah, I like being single enough!

Glad you're getting some notice out there but sorry that rental's thru the roof, wow, hope you're not working TOO hard!

Please see My Hill in my Mixed Media folder for recent writing of mine to get published locally!

Speak soon Lisa,

John.

You know, one of the most important things I've learned is that living simply is sooooo peaceful! Leave the baggage behind, whether yours or someone else's. I used to work 60 hours a week and make a ton of money, but it never seemed to be enough. It was so stressful trying to keep that lifestyle going. Now, I have so little-when I left my husband, I only took whatever fit in my car in three trips, and I've been donating stuff ever since. Gearing up for this next move, I'm trying to eliminate anything I don't really need cuz I don't want to have to carry it up and down the stairs.

OOOOO good luck with the female friend! Things with my new man are going slowly. Since I'm now working three part time jobs, plus volunteering, I rarely get to see him. I did manage to find an apartment though, right around the corner from where my guy works, and down the street from the bead store where I teach. Small flat on the second floor, but they've torn everything out so it will all be new when I move in.

I'm heading to your mixed media folder to check out the piece that's getting published, then to bed! I'm tired and have to work the next three days- 9 hours a day on my feet on a concrete floor. Yikes.

Have a great night!

Lisa
